036 An extensive and neat residence on a hill overlooking the Harbour of Burntisland. It has gardens and a small portion of ornamental ground attached. In the description of this place in the New Stat. Acct it is stated "On an eminence overhanging the Harbour stands Rossend Castle, erected, it would seem, at some period in the 15th Century by Dury of that Ilk" As part of this old castle is incorporated with the present modern building and cannot be distinguished from it at the present time unless pointed out - There are no other remains of an antiquarian nature about the place, and there is no tradition connected with the old castle known in the neighbourhood.
