035 [Situation] ¾ mile N.W. [North West] of Crossgates. A deep hollow or hiding place near the summit of the Hill of Beath. Here the first armed Conventiclle was held against prelacy, by the ejected Ministers of Troqueer and Rutherglen. Many of the neighbouring gentlemen who attended the meeting, were fined and Confined by order of Bishop Sharpe (See Chalmers Hist [History] of Dunfermline page 278).
