[South] side of Maygate Street An old looking house two stories in height erected by Commendator Pitcairn commonly called Abbot Pitcairn. for his residence in Dunfermline - over the north door is the following inscription "Sen. Word. is. thrall. and. thocht. is. fre. Keip. Veill. thy. tonge. I. council. the." At present this house is in tolerably good repair and is in the occupation of a Gun Smith, and Mr Malcolm, Writer; It's appearance is remarkable. [Initialled] J.C |
