but is supposed to be as old as the middle of the eleventh century, probably between 1056 and 1070, see Chalmers Hist [History] of Dunfermline Page 83 Henderson in his Chart or chronological table of Dunfermline fixes the date of the Tower about 1064, Winton, Fordun and Mathew Paris, all early writers, records Malcolm's marriage with Queen Margaret took place in 1070, which Rev [Reverend] Mr Chalmers considers was soon after the Tower was finished as the ceremony was performed at Dunfermline.
