035 | [Situation] At the Northern Junction of Woodhead street. An extensive church in connection with the established church of Scotland, it is a neat edifice partly in the Gothic style of architecture, it contains 800 sittings and was erected at cost of £1673. 1002 of which was raised by subscription and the remainder was given from the General Assembly's extension fund. It was opened for public worship in 1840 And a district containing a population of about 3000 was assigned, over which the minister has eccleastical jurisdiction, There is no Manse or Garden and the guaranteed stipend is only £80 but it rises with the increase of seat rents and Collections, |
