A parish in Fifeshire, bounded on the East by the parishes of Markinch and Wemyss, on the west by Kirkcaldy and part of Auchterderran, on the North by Kinglassie, and on the South by the Firth of Forth. It is of an irregular form, nearly 4 miles in length from North to South, and varying from 1 1/4 to 2 1/4 miles in breadth from East to west, containing about 3054 acres, the whole of which are arable, with the exception of about 400 acres which are under wood. This parish contains besides the Royal Burgh of Dysart 3 villages, viz. "Pathhead", "Gallatown" and Boreland". also some antiquities &c. &c. |
