It is in the form of a square and has a large Courtyard at the inside which is called the Castle yard The sea is making great encroachments on it at the present time the coast wall is entirely washed away. The only portions of the Castle now standing are the North and South sides. The window where cardinal Beaton was shown to the multitude after his murder and the dungeon where Wishart and others were confined are still pointed out. The former at the SE [South East] corner and the latter at the NW [North West] of the building It is the property of the Crown but at what time it got into its possession is not known There is a person appointed by the Commissioners of Woods and Forests to take care of the building who also points out to all Visitors the most remarkable parts of the building
