014 A cultivated field Situated on the North Side of Templehall in the N.W. [North West] end of which stands Fountainhall Colliery. When draining this field some few years ago a number of Stone Vases and urns were discovered. Also a road paved with square blocks of Stone and about 2½ feet below the Surface Supposed to be a part of a Roman Road. I could not ascertain the origin of the Name "Easter Cairn" but Mr. Henderson, Templehall says that it is very old and he thinks that a Military Roman Station existed in the Vicinity, but which was entirely demolished, when reclaiming the land.
