[Situation] In the Eastern portion of the Co [County] Haddington A moorish upland parish in the southern district of Haddingtonshire It is about 11 miles in length and 4 in breadth from east to west, and Contains 44 square miles, Whittingham is bounded on the Southwest by the Parish of Garvald, on the west by Moreham, on the north by Prestonkirk On the east by Stenton and on the South by Berwickshire. The figure of the parish is rather irregular, rising and falling gradually from the village of Whittingham to the Lammermuir Hills, and eastward and westward from the Whittingham Water, which traverses nearly the whole extent of the parish. |
