A hill S. [South] little west of Traprain farm house, it is rather of a conical form bearing some resemblance to the Bass Rock or north Berwick law. Its north side is partly covered with grass the South side is very abrupt and rocky.

Two large upright Stones on the East side of Traprain Law, having betwixt them a very narrow passage. A traditional story is told & beloved by the country people that no woman except she be a virgin Can pass between these rocks. It is an object somewhat similar to the Maiden Bower Craig near Dumfries.
