61 - Standing Stone

There is a tradition of a marvellous story told that
two giants were trying their strength by throwing stones
one standing on Traprain Law & the other on BlaiKie Heugh
& that the one on Traprain Law cast his stone which is
the present standing stone to where it now stands whilst the
other cast his near Lawend where it still remains standing.
The above marvellous story evidently proves these
objects to be of great antiquity as stories of this sort are
generally told of very ancient objects which tradition or other authoritative
accounts cannot trace thier origin
