007 The site of a battle fought between the english and Scots on 3rd Sept [September] 1650. On the night previous to the battle General Leslie was encamped on Doon Hill, with the Scots army, & on the same night the english army under Cromwell drew up by the side of the Rivulet near Brands Mill. On the morning of 3rd the Scots decended from Doon Hill and were met by the english and defeated with great slaughter a short distance south from Brands Mill. The Revd [Reverend] John Jaffray Ph [Parish] Minister says this Battle should be called the Battle of Doonhill but he also states that it is often called the Battle of Dunbar.
