006 | A very small but Ancient Village which stands in a rather elevated Position, its Scanty population are principally farm laborers whose dwellings are of a very indifferent description where there is neither trade or business Carried on. From it the Parish takes its name, the adjacent parishes of Tynningham and Oldham were added to it in the year 1761. Sir David Baird of Newbyth is the proprietor. |

006 | A Plan old edifice built in the Gothic style of architecture Surmounted by a Square Tower with a neat burial ground attached. The present building is supposed to have been erected about the Commencement of the 15th Century and was thoroughly repaired in the year 1839. Tradition points it out as One of the principal Seats of St. Baldred who first preached Christianity in the Lothians. In tmes of Old it was the Resort of Numerous Pilgrims - Chalmers States it was under pretence |
