A Spring well of excellent water on Gullane Links. It is deep and built around with hewn stone & covered overhead with flag stones. A subteraneous pipe conveys water from this well to Luffness House, near it are two watering troughs for the use of Cattle supplyed by pipes from the well.

A considerable stream or burn having its rise on the farm of Waughton and running Westerly passing Congalton, and Morton to its influx with the sea at Aberlady Bay. It takes the name Peffer Burn from Gilmerton House.
