002 This is a Royal Burgh & seaport 23 Miles N.E. [North East] from Edinburgh & 11 Miles N.W. [North[West] from Dunbar It consists of one long street running east and west; another running north & South - on which the former Joins and forms a figure somewhat like a T square; & several back streets of less importance.
The exports are chiefly Corn, Potatoes, etc; the imports are Coal, & bones for manure; there are also several persons employed in the Fishing trade. There are only 3 or 4 Vessels belonging to the port.
THE HARBOUR [North Berwick] The Harbour 002 The Harbour, which is small, is at the North End of Shore Street - at which are some Grannaries - and is formed of a tolerably good pier; the Harbour and the approach thereto are dry at Low tides.
