The remains of a Stone Cross Consisting of a large roughly dressed Stone 5 links long by 4 links broad and firmly fixed in the surface of the ground above which it rises to the height of 3 feet, in the centre of the stone is a hole cut or sunk about one foot deep, and 16 inches long by 12 inches broad, in this hole according to the local tradition a long Stone formerly stood the top part of which was early Shaped in the form of a Cross - Only the first mentioned now remains. It was erected as a Market Cross, for the village of Gifford, and, according to the Local tradition the village extended formerly nearly up to this place the remains of the Cross marks the place where fairs and markets were formerly held. The date of its erection is unknown
