Parish of Oldhamstocks
[Margin note] 75

[Note relating to '[Cromwellhall'] - This house never was a baronial residence nor a
place of any note and although there a tradition of Cromwell having occupied it a short time
yet it is scarcely of importance sufficient to
write it as an antiquity. Moreover the old
name as appears from the valn. [valuation] roll was Cromwell haugh
which was a name applied to low ground & not to the higher
which affords some doubt the stories about the occupation of the house by Cromwell.
