A large camp or redoubt situated on an eminence in Dunglas demesne, supposed to have been constructed by the French in the regency of Mary of Guise. On its western side it is defended by a ditch; its eastern side is protected by a deep ravine and at its northeast angle is a small circular mound on which it appears a tent had been placed. On the summit of the redoubt is a small Summer house.
