020 | [Situation] About 1/4 Mile East from Millknowe A Small "Haugh" or piece of low ground through which flows "Kill Burn" on the Farm of Penshiel. There is no Tradition to show why it is so called. It was probably the site of a Cell of one of the Friars as the stream which passes through it is Kell Burn which is evidently a Corruption of Kill Burn or Cell Burn: giving the C either the Gaelic or [frak] sound. |
