A united parish stretching in an oblong form, from near the centre of the county southward to its boundary with Berwickshire, It is bounded on the North. East and southeast by the parish Whittingham, On the South by Berwickshire. On the West by yester and on the Northwest by Moreham. Its length is about 8 miles and its greatest breadth about 4 miles. It is in the Presbytery of Haddington and Synod of Lothian & Tweeddale. Patron the Crown, and the Marquis of Tweeddale.
