021 | [Situation] Adjoining Harehead about 1¾ Mile SSW. [South South West] from Duddy Hill On the spot marked on tracing adjoining the farm house of Harehead, Stood Harehead Castle, formerly a residence of the Earls of Hyndford. Mr George Dods, farmer, states that his family have been farmers in this neighbourhood for upwards of a century and that this Castle was burned down about a hundred years ago. This was Communicated to him by his uncle was an eye witness to the Conflagration. There is no tradition in the County Concerning it & from the absence of any written account it cannot have been a place of any importance. |
