016 | [Situation] About 2 Miles W by N. [West by North] from Bothwell The remains of an old Baronial mansion on the farm of Millknowe. The portion of the walls that now exist are of rude strong mason work, and stands about 15 ft. high & about 4 ft. in thickness It is upwards of 80 years since it was inhabited, and prior to that it had long been occupied by shepherds. Robert Millans of Garvald says that it was occupied by Mr Hume land tax collector in the reign of William & Mary. |
