BARONHILL | Baronhill Baronhill Baronhill |
Revd. [Reverend] H. Park Revd. [Reverend] H. Baird W. Wilson Ph. [Parish] Schoolmaster |
026 | A row of houses at the west end of "Main Street" on a slight eminence which is entirely cut up by the road passing over its top, leaving at the present time little of the shape it once is said to have had. Upon the authority of the Ph. [Parish] Minister, the name is said to be derived from being the place where of old the Barons held their Courts, but of this there is nothing now known Save the name, which is well known in the locality. The Knowe or hill upon which the houses stand is lost as before stated by the Road destroying it. The name is now wholly used to the houses. (See New Statistical Account) |
