It has been in existence for several centuries, and before the road alongside "Loch Long" was made, was the route chosen by the Dukes of Argyle on their way from Glasgow to Inverary. The land on the Dumbarton side belongs to Sir James Colquhoun, Bart [Baronet], and that on the Argyle side to the Duke of Argyle.
