"It is supposed a Cairn once stood here belonging to the Romans, In digging a quarry here there has been found a trough containing bones & some beads."

The South side consists of a bank and no fosse. The North & West slight vestiges of bank where it has been ploughed. It is recognised in the district as being a Camp.
This has been a British Fort it stands on the side of a hill &c. and the nature of the contour or lie of the ground did not admit of a ditch or fosse being made.
