056 | [Situation] At Sn. [Southern] extremity of this Parish. A name applied in this District to all that portion of Lochar Moss in the Southern Extremity of the Parish, Torthorwald, bounded on the West by Strips of Meadow land (between it and Lochar Water) On the East by Wath Burn (and patches of reclaimed Moss and strips of Meadow on the North by the village of Racks and the Glasgow and South Western Railway on the South by a [part] of Caerlaverock Ph. [Parish]. It is said to be an old Scottish term and of long Standing. It is well known in the locality. The whole of it is the property of Mr Alexander Grierson. |

The term 'Flow' is applied in a descriptive Sense
to a part of the district called Racks Moss, and applys
only to the portion of the Moss from which no peat has
been Cut, The Surface Sods Cast away when digging
peat is called 'Flow'
