Continued entries/extra info

Respecting this Barony are given by the several Statistics. The proprietors of this Castle were probably the Kirkpatrick family (now extinct) who were Patrons of the district at an early date. On the farm of wood towards the south eastern district remains are yet extent of Glenae Tower, which in 1666 gave the title of Baronet to a branch of the family of Dalzell, before it´s succession to the Earldom of Carnwath. The remains or site of Wreaths Tower have been painted out near the centre of the parish, of which no mention is made by Statistics and which has probably been an ordinary Beel house during border feuds or raides. A stone called Gibb´s Corse commemorates the spot where one Gilbert is said to have been killed during the time of persecution. The ruins of the ancient parish church of Garwald are yet extant situate near the centre of this Parish, which was remodelled and reconstructed in 1617. Garwald was of old a mensal churcg of the Bishops od Glasgow. In 1506, Robert Blackadder, the Archbishop of Glasgow asighned the rectory of Garwald to the College of Glasgow. At the epoch of the reformation, the Patronage of this church appears to have belonged to The Trinity Convent of Red Friers at ??? in Ayrshire and it was afterwards vested in the ?ing. Chalmers´Caledonia. The parish of Garwald or Garrel as it is now called, was probably annexed to that of Kirkmichael about 1729 as at that period the church belonging to the latter parish was enlarged.
