A small eminence formerly used for cleaning Shillin and by charter in the reign of George III to be used by the person occupying the Mill adjoining. Shillin in Scotch is applied mostly to the "husks of corn ground" called shillin seeds". Shillen implies the grain itself freed of husks. As the former Could not be cleaned on an eminence it is evident that the name here applies to the grain itself. Shillen which was cleaned freed of the husks by exposure on this hillock to the wind.
