A small stream rising in the Moss from which it takes its name, it falls into Dryfe water.
Caulddel. This name is Compounded of Cauld (from Scotch,) & del, from Teutonic It appears that Calddel i.e. the col, valley is the most approved being A.S. [Anglo Saxon]
