A considerable stream rising in the hills towards the western boundary of the parish and flowing in a generally eastward course until it falls into the Cairn Water a little below Minnyhive. The valley at this point (shewn on Trace 3) widens considerably and though not extending beyond the parish Road has probably a greater breadth here than at any other part west of Minny hive .

This name, about the origin of which no information can be obtained, is given to a small thatched cottage in indifferent repair and occupied by two families . It forms part of the occupancy of Thomas Little of Marwhirn and is the property of Robert Cutlar Ferguson Esq.' of Craigdarroch.
