A small River which comes in upon this parish from Kirkcudbrightshire, after having run a course of 4 miles from Loch - Howie, in the parish of Balmaclellan, forms for 1¼ mile the boundary line with Kirkcudbrightshire, and afterwards, in its meanderings allong [along] the vally [valley], everywhere flows between wooded banks.
