018 [Situation] About 3/8 of a mile S.W. [South West] of Over Cassock
A small farm house one storey high high and slated. The offices are in indifferent repair, but are going to be rebuilt, there is a small vegetable garden attached. The correct name appears to be "Over Cassock" derived from a legend in which it is stated that a priest lost his Cassock in crossing Bar Burn near the Camp, this single circumstance is all all that is remembered of the original tale. It has been called "over Causeway" from a Roman road being supposed to have passed near it: no trace of this road or its situation remains.
THE LAKE The Lake

Mr. James Glendinning farmer, Over Cassock
Robert Thompson Esqr. Nether Cassock

This name applies to the fosse or ditch on the East and North of the "Camp". It is probable that it is so called from Bar Burn being turned into it as a means of defence. Its banks bear traces of the action of water.
