009 A large and commanding family mansion - which bears the date of 1751 Several additions have been built to it since then by its various proprietors - and it now stands a plain square looking building of no architectural beauty. It is well sheltered by a plantation of mixed wood but the soil seems to be no wise congenial to the growth of trees for half of them are gnarled and stunted.
Sandside House is the property of His Grace the Duke of Portland.
