[South] Easterly direction empties itself into the Tweed a little south of Berwick --- This river or water rises in one of the wildest districts in the south of Scotland and in its Course passes through varied scenery; sometimes. through flat or level valleys. but generally through places where the hills Close in , so as, to narrow the valley almost to the bed of the river -- It is unquestionably one of the best fishing rivers in Scotland -- Dr. [Doctor] Knox in his worK on the rivers of Scotland Says - "Unquestionably the best Angling Stream in Scotland" --- and of Elmford. (about 3 miles above this portion of Longformacus) "Of all Angling stations in Scotland, this is the first, the best" --- |
