It rises in the Parish of Gordon, near Heckspath; and flows first Eastwood, & then Southward, dividing the parish of Earlston from that of Hume & Nenthorn. It then suddenly debauches to the East, and flows through the parish of Nenthorn, and over a neck of Roxburghshire, interacting in its Course the parish of Ednam, and falls into the Tweed 3½ miles below Kelso. Its whole course is about 17 or 18 miles, The larger part of its Course is very beautiful, being through rich & finely wooded pastoral Scenery. |
