[continued from page 1] is situated about mid-way on the western confines of the parish, the remainder of the parish, which is in the Co. [County] of Banff contains about 16381 Statute acres, in which is situated the Town of Keith And the Parish Church. There are no detached portions of the parish of Keith in these or any other Counties, neither are there detached portions of any other parish within its limits.
"The prevailing Soil is loam and clay; the rest of it is light. It is in general fertile in its productions, though, on account of its depth and moisture, it is commonly late in bringing them to maturity. Limestone is to be had in abundance, on almost every farm, with plenty of peats at a moderate distance for converting it to the purposes of building or agriculture." Old Statistical Account |
