003.12 | In a Small field, on the Side of the Burn of Durn, near the Mill of Durn, a ruin Stands, traditionally Said to be the remains of a chapel, which was used as a place of worship by the Episcopalians residing in the district, when episcopacy was established in Scotland. The date of its erection is unknown, but it is Said to have been burned by the Highlanders under the Pretender, Charles Stuart, when retreating northward before the Duke of Cumberland. |
