003.08 Near the grave yard, on the shore of Links Bay. A spot is pointed out. as the Site of an ancient Chapel or oratory. said to have been dedicated to St Columbus. Some of the inhabitants of Portsoy, still living, recollect seeing a portion of the gable end and side walls standing, about 60 years ago - There is not a vestige of it now remaining , to point out the exact place where it stood. The date of its erection is, not known - & there is little or no reliable tradition of its history, in the district.
