001.15 On the left bank of Dry Burn may be seen the remains of three Sepulchral mounds, or tumuli: They consisted of rich mould: surrounded by a considerable quantity of Small Stones and in the centre of each there was a considerable quantity of charcoal and wood ashes. A few years ago, these tumuli were defaced by James Watt Esqr. Auchenhalrig, when brining this part of his farm under the plough. They are supposed to have had some connection with a Druidical circle, which stands a short distance north W [West] of them.
