A STONE COFFIN FOUND HERE [Carlinkist Cairn] 017.01 a coffin composed of large flat Stones were found in it Some years ago.
The Carlin kist mentioned in the stat. [statistical] account was removed many years ago & no person can point out its Site. This Cairn being in proximity, took its distinctive name from the Carlin Kist.
