028 A large artificial Loch or Reservoir for the use of Tarbolton Mill &c from the 25th of September to the 25th of March for the other half year it is kept under meadow pasture of a very rough quality - if it were not for the embankments at the South east end or for the mills there would be no Loch here on the property of the Duke of Portland and several others &c Note the extent of the Loch is Shown in yellow on Traces.
