003 This eminence or Law is almost entirely removed and the ground Cultivated. All that now remains is situated in a field adjoining Haylee House, and consists of four large rough stones set on edge and another flat stone laid over them as a cover. Mr Boyd Sen [Senior] says they were near the centre of what was called "Margaret's Law" and were allowed to remain as they were found. The skulls mentioned in the Stat Acct [Statistical Account] were found in the enclosure formed by these stones and immediatly round about them. It is not well known in the neighbourhood by the name of "Margaret's Law". Only some very old people have a faint recolection of its being applied to this place. It is usually called the "Tomb" or Tomb Park. Margarets Law was a tumulus supposed by the inahbitants of the neighbourhood to have been erected over the bodies of those who fell in the Battle but the origin of the name is unknown. At the back of the Mansion house of Haylee, there are the Remains of a tumulus, which was doubtless erected over the bodies of those who fell at the Battle of Largs. It is called Margaret's Law but this was probably the corruption of some other name"
