018 | Was Built in 1775 by Denomination Called 'Antiburghers' but the Congregation had So increased that it was found inadequate for their Accommodation, and it was therefore taken down and rebuilt on a larger Scale in 1807, it now Contains About 1000 sittings. The Congregation in 1843 adopted the name of the 'Evangelical Union' Commonly called Morisonians, to which persuasion they Still adhere, there is no permanent minister Attached to this Church, at the present time. but the Congregation are principally supplied with Students from the Academy or Theological Seminary at Greenock, which is Connected with the Union, who Officiate; It is very plain, but Substantial Structure, and is rather unpleasantly Situated, on account of the many Old tenements with which it is Surrounded, it is Supported Solely by the Congregation. - |
