018 This water has its Source not far from Loudoun Hill, it takes a westerly course and with many windings passes by Darvel, Newmills, Galston, Crookedholm, Kilmarnock, and then thro' [through] Irvine from which it derives its name, then falls into the Frith of Clyde near the latter place, in its Course it receives Several Tributaries, the chief of which are, the Kilmarnock, the Carmel and the Annack Waters.
