050 Is wrought at the depth of 60 fathoms The coal is of excellent quality & is in great demand in the surrounding district This, is said to have been the first Pit opened on the Water of Girvan. The winding engine is 36 horse power. The pumping engine is about 45. A one storey slated house in good repair consisting of Smithy & store rooms is attached. A lessee of it is held by Mr Whitefield of Kilgrammie house from the Duchess De Coigney
