It appears to have been surrounded by a vallum of earth, the remains of which is still entire in several places Standing on a gentle slope, at the junction of two Glens; with the ground immediately on the S. [South] East rising to a higher elevation; it is rather difficult to suppose that it was constructed for the purpose of defence.
