050 Dalquharran Coal Pit produces excellent burning coals and is in good working order
The coals brought from the bottom of the pit up an incline of about 35° and 200 fathoms in length, by an engine of eight horse power. There are 30 colliers generally employed raising the coal. There are three workable seams of coal - first what is called the "main seam" and is about 7 feet and and a half thick the second is called the "parrot" and is about 5 ft [feet] thick: the third the "rotten coal" and is about 3½ feet thick but this latter is seldom wrought being so bad that it will scarcely pay the working -
