056 | An excellent spring issuing from a Rock on the steepest part of Kirkdominae hill, it is enclosed on two sides, by a wall of stone and lime, about 6 feet high. The Rock out of which it issues being perpendicular, and about the same height as the walls, forms what may be said to be a third wall enclosing on every side but one, That is the entrance, it is surrounded by a thick patch of brushwood, but does not appear to have ever been roofed. Tradition states that it was from this well the water used at the Church services at Kirkdominae was brought. |
