FORT [Ballivulline] | Fort Fort Fort |
Mr David Glen Mr James Templeton, Whitehill Mr Charles McLean |
257 | On the summit of a small knoll on the farm of Ballivulline there are the remains of a circular building, which is considered by the authorities quoted to have been an ancient British fort. I was informed by James Templeton that a number of human bones were found, of a large size, by workmen while trenching the knoll to procure stones for building purposes. "Some years ago on the farm of Ballivulline, two miles north of Campbeltown, a place called the Forth was trenched, and a great many human bones of a large size dug up, which proved evidently that the people in those days were greatly superior in stature to those at present."
