A parish in Argyllshire which is bounded on the North of the parish of Halavich, on the East by Kilmichael Glassary, on the South by North Knapdale and on the West by Craignish and Loch Craignish. "The name of this parish is derived from Kill, which in the Gaelic language, signifies a burial place, and Martin, or St. Martin, the Patron Saint to whom it was dedicated. Parallel with the shores of Loch Craignish, lie several islands, the two principal of which, Island High and Island Macasken, both belonging to this parish, are pleasantly diversified with broken knolls and scattered woods".
